The program

To the north of Lyons, Burgundy is renowned for its appellations and its major wines some of which are the most famous in the world. Wines and castles have always been closely linked. Therefore, the itinerary combines historical visits and tastings of high-quality wines. From Southern Burgundy to the original winery of Gevrey-Chambertin, via the historical centre of Beaune and Côte de Nuit, sit back and enjoy this delicious day.

Explore Burgundy, its vineyards and castles. Travelling trough an exceptional territory, this day, full of flavour, combines historic culture and wine discovery.

Morning:

Leaving from Lyon, your wine-passionate driver-guide will take you to the Côte de Baune and its castles. The first stop will allow you to visit one of them with its wine cellar dating from the 11th century and its impressive buildings. You will taste the most prestigious appellations of the Côte de Beaune vineyards. A good start for this wine tour.

Free time for lunch:

We will continue to Beaune for lunch. Thanks to our advice, you will be able to enjoy the traditional cuisine of Burgundy and its famous gastronomic specialities.

Also, take time to visit the historical centre. Beaune is a fortified town of character that will not fail to delight you. Its paved and flower-covered streets will lead you to some outstanding historical monuments, such as its famous Hospices or Notre-Dame Collegial Church.

Afternoon:

In the beginning of the afternoon, we will continue with wine tastings driving trough the Côtes de Nuit, with JFK and Charlie Chaplin’s favourite appellation: Aloxe Corton. After walking along the wine wall of the cellar, you will taste the wines of the estate, in a traditional Bourguignonne décor.

The tour ends a little more in the north, in Gervey Chambertin, in the centre of the famous UNESCO listed climates where all the famous appellations are: Romanée Conti, Clos Vougeot… The last tasting will take you to an unusual cellar of Gevrey to discover delicious red wines before heading back to Lyon.
